Bako Pathology Mini-Fellowship

At Bako Podiatric Pathology Services we're extremely proud of the advances that have been made in the realm of podiatric dermatology. Within our lab, we have seen the composition of our work change from almost purely mycology, to all facets of dermatology, and bone and soft tissue pathology. To further advance this cause, we are offering a mini-fellowship in podiatric dermatology /dermatopathology in Alpharetta, GA. To assist our future doctors, we have elected to provide complimentary lodging, and reimburse for resident travel expenses (up to $350.00). During this two week long rotation, residents will work one-on-one with our dermatopathologists, have access to a broad spectrum of teaching materials, and attend in-house dermatology lectures. Fellows will learn about basic lab operations from grossing to slide preparation, and they will spend time in mycology and bacteriology, where they will follow specimens from receipt, to plating, and then organism identification. Also stressed will be specialized testing techniques, such as Epidermal Nerve Fiber Density (ENFD) and immunohistochemistry. We fully expect that upon concluding this rotation, attendees will be able to correlate various dermatological conditions with their histopathologic findings, and ultimately, use this knowledge in their future podiatric practices.

We seek residents that are self motivated, particularly those with the ability and inclination to contribute to the literature.  Acceptance is based on the strength of their residency director's letter of recommendation, with priority given to residents who are within their last year of training. We strongly encourage junior residents to submit their CVs and letters of recommendation well in advance of their senior year as calendar slots for this much-sought-after program fill very quickly.

To apply, residents need only send a brief curriculum vitae and a letter of recommendation from their Residency Director to Dr. Brad Bakotic at  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
